Happiness
will only be found
in the Arms of Him who Loves
and calls each of us
Christian joy is not just a natural optimism about existence.
It is not just a feeling.
A Christian holds joy in his heart.
Why?
Joy recognizes that in this broken world there is a reason for thankfulness.
The Love and Mercy of God.
It does not deny existing earthly conditions.
It recognises sin and its consequences.
A Christian helps change the lives of others by helping them see the reasons to be thankful.
A Christian brings Christ into the lives of others.
Christian love is the foundation for joy.
These are beautifully expressed thoughts and make a lovely start to the day. Thank you Dodo.
ReplyDeleteWhy thank you.
ReplyDeleteJust something I recall from reading Johannes Metz some time ago. Another 'radical' theologian, I'm afraid. I think he got too close to Marxists and the Frankfurt School. Still, I think he was on to something about the essence of Christian joy.
I must watch this tendency of mine to agree with giving "preferential treatment to the poor" and this questioning of the economic and
social structures under which we live.
